Relationships
Pupils will be able to recognise, build and maintain healthy, happy and meaningful relationships
Fordwater’s RSHE curriculum has been written in response to the Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education Guidance (2019) from the DfE and the Equality Act 2010.
Relationships, RSE and Health Education must be accessible for all pupils.
Pupils need to learn the key building blocks for healthy, respectful relationships, building on family and friendships in all contexts and online.
They need to understand how the human body develops and know how to stay healthy which is covered under the Fordwater Aim Healthy Lifestyles and Physical Development Aim.
Teaching children about personal happiness and mental wellbeing is central to how they manage their relationships.
Pupils should be aware of and respect different types of relationships, and different family structures. They need to understand that they live in a world full of diversity and that all difference is to be celebrated and valued.
This subject gives us the opportunity to help our pupils develop the attributes and knowledge to support their own and other's happiness and wellbeing, to become successful adults.
