COVID 19 Remote Learning Offer
Following a period of closure in Spring and Summer 2020 Fordwater School developed a contingency plan, in line with DFE guidelines (Guidance for full opening: Special Schools 2nd July 2020, updated 17th September 2020.
Following a detailed risk assessment, many of our pupils were able to access onsite provision at this time.
Pupils were offered a remote learning package which was bespoke to meet the needs of individual EHCP Learning Map outcomes. Teachers and SSA’s from each class were responsible to produce learning materials and short videos, which were published each fortnight on the school website.
Weekly welfare calls were conducted by class teachers which allowed them to ensure that they were providing the appropriate content for home learning.
Activity Packs were delivered by school staff, which were designed to support learning activities outlined in class newsletters.
Following on from lockdown, other schools around the county have been signposted by SENCO’s and clinicians to utilise our website resources as part of their catch up curriculum for pupils with additional needs.
